I shoot digital now and have a Nikon D as well as a Olympus EM-5, but I have a ton of negatives and slides that I need to digitize. The Nikon Z6 may not offer the incredible resolution of its sibling, the Z7, but its 24MP resolution is more than enough for most people, and the 64-hit saved can buy a lot of glass.

Jul 2, Posts: Because drivers run in kernel mode ring 0 and the x64 architecture, when running a bit OS, can’t run bit code while it’s in ring 0. Makes sense and I might just go that route in the end. Personally, I would not bother with scanning slides unless you have exceptional ones.


LSI has been pretty good about shipping drivers. Ah, interesting — I must be confusing Vista with x64 — that is, older drivers not meant for Vista might still work in Vista — I confused that concept with bit drivers. But, for the most part, you’re going to be out of luck trying to use the guest drivers with most physical hardware with those types of solutions as with the SCSI controller card the OP wants to use.


Mon Jun 18, 9: I have the above controller card controlling other devices that I need. I installed Windows 7 Beta x64 a few days ago and I am really enjoying it.

The only thing that is slightly annoying is that the scanner needs to be powered when the system boots, otherwise it is not recognised, but I believe this is true of all SCSI devices. I’ll look into the rest and I’ll see what I can find.

Windows 7 Build x So, rather than using a compromised setup trying to use XP on a separate machine, trying to use a machine with Vista on it insteadI’d just follow the instructions on the page that Russell linked to.
