Then install the latest groadcom nic drivers and it now has been working since last year: Interestingly, I have the physical machine pinging the virtual machine and it never lost a packet – but that could be some Windows 2K12 magic as they were on the same NIC.

I’m currently testing the box with Hyper-V and have several ports configured, which I don’t want to reconfigure at the moment so I’m sticking witht the Intel Quadport Nic which doesn’t seem brladcom be having any issues.

I would have been happy to retain linux, but the particular software I want to use the tower for is windows-based: I am wondering if you should run that to make sure the Network card is functional.
The server would lose network connection within 3 to 4 days and either have to reset the NIC’s or reboot. Unfortunately this did not resolve the problem for my client. Should I try to find another driver, or is there a etherjet to get windows to recognise it as a network adapter?
